About Figure the Job

Figure the Job is a collection of 20 free calculators for construction, landscaping, and home-improvement projects. Every tool is built around the same idea: you should be able to stand in a store aisle or on a job site, punch in your measurements, and know exactly how much material to order, in seconds, on your phone, without creating an account.

Each calculator explains the formula it uses and shows a worked example, so you can sanity-check the math yourself. Results include a standard waste factor where the trade normally uses one, and every page tells you when it does.

These tools provide estimates. Materials vary by manufacturer, sites vary by conditions, and building codes vary by location, so always confirm final quantities with your supplier or contractor, and check local code where structural work is involved.
